A STROUD man has avoided jail after threatening a police officer with a knife.
Kenneth Burlison, 52, of The Bassetts in Cainscross pleaded guilty to the assault in Stroud on July 1.
At a hearing at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on August 29, Burlison was given a suspended jail sentence, which will come into force if he fails to complete a rehabilitation activity as directed by the court.
He was also ordered to pay compensation of £200.
