A 58-YEAR-OLD Minchinhampton motorist hit a parked vehicle in Stroud while more than three times over the legal drink-drive limit, a court heard yesterday (Wednesday).
David Smith of George Pearce House,The Glebe, Minchinhampton pleaded guilty at Cheltenham Magistrates court to driving with excess alcohol.
A police station breath test revealed that he had 107 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit being 35 micrograms.
The defendant was driving a Vauxhall Astra on Butt Street, Stroud on August 24 when he committed the offence, said prosecuting lawyer Sonia Alford.
“The defendant collided with a parked car and the reading was very high so the Crown regard these as aggravating features. We are asking for a pre-sentence report to be prepared by the probation service," she said.
Ms Alford did not fully open the Crown case to the court but the full facts will be heard on September 30, when Smith will be sentenced.
Until then the defendant was granted unconditional bail.
