Mothers and fathers rushed to the centre of Stroud this morning for the opening of a new shop.

Babywear store JoJo Maman Bébé opened on King Street at 9.30am.

Managing director Laura Tenison MBE was joined by Mayor of Stroud Kevin Cranston, with around 50 people queuing outside before the doors opened.

Addressing the waiting crowds Laura said: "Ladies and gentlemen of Stroud I'm so proud to bring you JoJo Maman Bébé, a company I started 25 years ago with a sewing machine.

"This is our 99th store across the globe and we are so happy to come to Stroud. We are a Welsh company so we feel like we are nearly at home.

"We hope we will be your community mother and baby store."

The King Street store is the first major new company to move to the Five Valleys Centre since Dransfield Properties Ltd embarked on its £25 million transformation.
