Stroud MP David Drew has said the Supreme Court ruling that the decision to suspend Parliament was unlawful raises 'huge constitutional issues'.
This morning the UK's highest court ruled unanimously that Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s advice to the Queen was unlawful because it had the effect of frustrating Parliament.
Politicians have been quick to make their feelings known following the ruling.
In a statement David Drew said: "In a unanimous ruling by our highest court, the Prime Minister has been found to have acted unlawfully.
"The courts have confirmed that Government should be held to account by Parliament as the representatives of the people.
"This ruling raises huge constitutional issues, stating that a Prime Minister has unlawfully advised the Queen to shut down our representative body and stop MPs doing their jobs.
"All the legislation which had been summarily dropped by the unlawful prorogation will now need to be picked up again.
"I am ready to go back to work in Westminster, which is where all MPs should be now, holding this Government to account, working on these crucial pieces of legislation."
