ROAD closures on the A419 at Stonehouse have been extended.

Parts of the road have been closed for resurfacing works on the roundabout and new cycle path at Chipmans Platt.

The closures have now been extended to include the following:

  • Friday, 9 November, 8pm – 6am– Full closure of A419 with diversion in place
  • Saturday, 9 and Sunday, 10 November – No road closures will be taking place
  • Monday, 11 November  – Spring Hill be  closed under 3 way lights with a local diversion in place
  • Tuesday, 12 November  – Grove Lane will be closed under 3 way lights with a local diversion in place.

Crews started work on Chipmans Platt roundabout in March 2019, where they have widened the east and west approaches to two lanes, and installed a shared use cycle way between Spring Hill Road and Grove Lane to compliment the existing National Cycle Route in the area.

Cllr Nigel Moor, cabinet member for planning and infrastructure at Gloucestershire County Council, said: “The A419 scheme is important for all road users, not just vehicles but cyclists and pedestrians as well.

"Crews will be working overnight as much as possible to try to prevent delays, and we appreciate your patience as we complete this first phase of vital works.”

Cllr Lesley Williams, county councillor for Stonehouse, said: “I want to encourage residents and commuters to plan their journeys around the road closures where possible; these improvements will make it easier for local people to get to work, go to school, and get around generally in the long run. Thank you for your continuing patience.”

The A419 Stonehouse scheme is focused around four key junctions: Chipmans Platt roundabout, Oldends Lane roundabout, Downton Road signalised junction and Horsetrough roundabout.
