STROUD Short Stories is celebrating the fact that its next event – on 19 April at the Cotswold Playhouse – will be its 20th since its inception in 2011.
The event will also be special in another, much sadder way too.
It will be dedicated to Stroud creative writing tutor, poet, events organiser and Stroud Short Stories' stalwart Rick Vick, who died in December.
“Rick read at our very first event in 2011 and read a further five times, making him our record holder," said John Holland , who organises the short story events.
"He was also due to read at our event in November last year, but was too poorly to do so, so his son William read his story for him.
"Rick was important to Stroud Short Stories, and we miss him greatly.
"I think it appropriate to mark the passing of the wonderful man by dedicating our event to his memory.”
Writers are now invited to submit their stories for the event. Entries must be received by Sunday 8 March. The theme this time is Disruption.

The event itself is on Sunday 19 April when the event returns to the Cotswold Playhouse after two sell-out events last year.
