TWO men have been caught by police in connection with suspected drug offences in Stroud.

Officers from the Stroud Neighbourhood Policing Team were on patrol in Stratford Road last Wednesday (8 July) after receiving information from the local community about suspected drug dealing.

They stopped and searched a 26-year-old man from Stroud under the Misuse of Drugs Act after he had been seen acting suspiciously having just left a nearby address.

He was found to be in possession of a quantity of cannabis and received a caution.

Officers then searched an address and seized a quantity of what is believed to be cannabis, packets of white powder believed to be a controlled substance, and drug paraphernalia, along with a quantity of cash.

A 21-year-old man from Stroud was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled substance. He has been interviewed and released under investigation.

Inspector Paul Cruise praised the public for giving the initial information to the team.

He said: "I would like to encourage members of the public in the Stroud and Dursley area to continue to report any suspicious behaviour that they witness and to bring any concerns in relation to drug dealing to our attention.

"We take this behaviour seriously and will act on any information that is provided to us."
