A-35-year old man has denied subjecting a Stroud woman to more than four years of controlling and coercive behaviour.
Grigore Nedelcu pleaded not guilty at Gloucester Crown Court on Friday to using controlling and coercive behaviour towards the woman between January 1, 2016 and May 18 this year causing her to be in fear that violence would be used against her.
He also denied assaulting her causing actual bodily harm between January 1, 2016 and August 4, 2020 and two charges of assault by beating between January 1, 2016 and August 4, 2019 and then on August 4, 2019.
Nedelcu also denied perverting the course of justice between August 6, 2019 and May 12, 2020 by contacting the woman trying to get her to retract her statement and between May 10 and June 16 this year contacting the woman on multiple occasions trying to get her to change her account of events.
Nedelcu, of Nelson Street, Bristol, was remanded in custody pending a trial to start on November 9.
