The Government plans to spend £27BN on new roads. Why? We have a climate emergency and the recent lockdown has shown that road vehicle pollution is doing us all harm. The manufacture and disposal of electric cars can be un-environmental. We need money invested in public transport not more roads. The Government is rightly supporting Great Western Trains, but surely it would be better to offer free advance bookable tickets in a safe COVID environment to attract motorists out of their cars, thus reducing pollution and congestion, rather than run half-empty trains.

Thanks
