A 39 year old Stroud man has been banned from driving for a year after he was caught over the limit at the wheel of a car on the A38 at Whitminster in June.
At Cheltenham Magistrates Court on October 30, Daniel Clarke of Reservoir Road, Stroud, admitted driving a Skoda Octavia on the A38 Whitminster Road on June 22 this year while he had 57mcgs of alcohol on his breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs.
He was fined £150 and ordered to pay a £34 surcharge.
The magistrates disqualified him from driving for 12 months, the minimum for the offence.
But he was told that if he satisfactorily takes a Government approved driving course costing up to £250 at his own expense by May 29 next year he can reduce his disqualification by three months.
