A MAN who was caught driving in Stroud with more than double the legal alcohol level on his breath has been banned for three years.
Samuel Atkinson, 25, of The Avenue, North Woodchester, was ordered by Cheltenham Magistrates on Thursday (January 7) to pay £180 in costs and surcharges.
The magistrates imposed a 12 month community order on Atkinson with a requirement for him to do 80 hours of unpaid work.
Atkinson pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Focus in Station Road, Stroud on July 30 last year with 80 micrograms of alcohol in his breath.
The legal limit is 35mcgs.
Banning him for three years, the magistrates said he could reduce the disqualification by 273 days if he completes a Government approved driving course at his own expense by February 8, 2023.
