Stroud groups which support communities in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic have 11 days left to apply for council funding.

The deadline for the Community Resilience and Wellbeing Grant, which also aides organisations that help reduce inequality and promote wellbeing, is noon on January 29.

The grant supports groups which work with their communities to promote aspects of wellbeing such as physical, mental and financial health, social connection, arts, culture, heritage and the environment.

“We have some brilliant community groups applying to us who have worked hard to support their residents throughout COVID-19,” said Stroud District Council Community Health & Wellbeing Manager, Emma Keating Clark.

“We’ve also heard from culture and heritage organisations which have had to close their doors but are still improving wellbeing through online content or creative lockdown projects.”

Councillor Chris Brine, chair of the council’s Community Services and Licensing Committee, said: “I am proud to say that the Stroud district has a very strong voluntary sector and people really do look out for everyone in our communities.

“These grants will boost this sector at a time when its help and expertise continues to be so valuable.”
