Emergency services were called to Stonehouse where a bin lorry caught fire this afternoon.
The fire started in lorry at around 2.55pm and the fire service was on the scene within five minutes.
Gloucestershire County Council, who are in charge of the fire and rescue service, said around five percent of the vehicle was damaged by the fire.
The cause and extent of the fire is not yet known but the rubbish from the lorry was dumped onto the road.
Fire crews left the scene at 3.40pm and Gloucester Road was reopened at 4.55pm.
