A Stroud landlady has thanked her regular customers for their support during the last 18 months.

As with all pubs in the country the Kings Head in Kingscourt has experienced full closure, partial opening and finally full opening once more after lockdown restrictions were removed last month.

"My locals have been so supportive," said co-owner and landlady Carrol Nicholl.

"They supported me all through lockdown.

"We have been so busy. I've probably had the busiest summer for a long time.

"The local people need to be appreciated for that.

"I've been a very lucky person."

While the pub is only small, it boasts a large garden with spectacular views. And now a community garden has been created next to the pub.

Community group Down to Earth Stroud and a band of volunteers have cleared an overgrown section of bramble and buddleia in order to grow seasonal vegetables.

This is in addition to the beehives that have been on site for the last few years, with honey on sale at the pub.
