STROUD Valley Community School's September Sizzle made a welcome return on Saturday, after missing last year due to Covid.

The event, organised by the Stroud Valley Parent, Teacher and Friends Association (PTFA), is the main annual fundraiser event held by the school.

It is also a chance for children, parents, carers and teachers to meet up and have some fun.

The Sizzle took place at the school site on Castle Street from 12pm to 3pm, with some fun activities and food.

A wide number of games and activities were on offer, including a bouncy castle, a raffle, and a talent show.

There were also plenty of refreshments, with a cake sale, a bar and the sizzling barbeque.

“We’ve missed this annual event so much and truly enjoyed bringing the school family and local community together again,” said Gethin Jenkins, chair of the PTFA.

"We're still counting up the final amount raised but are delighted to have raised over £1,000 to support the school."

Headteacher Debbie Sleep said: “Amongst other things, support from the PTFA has helped us adapt, and to support children in the school during the pandemic.

"As we move into a term with fewer restrictions, it’s great to have our main annual community and fundraising event back: connecting the school, families and the community.”

The PTFA would like to thank the many businesses and organisations in Stroud who have kindly donated gifts and prizes for the raffle.

The top prize, a £50 voucher for the Corner House, Stroud, was won by Richard Wilson and family.
