Fireworks lit up the night sky across Stroud yesterday.

The Five Valleys Fireworks, known to many as Ebley Fireworks, took place at Marling School playing field.

BBC Radio Gloucestershire's Mark Cummings led the countdown to start the display.

Organised by the Rotary Clubs of Stroud, Nailsworth and Stonehouse, the event has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for local good causes over the years.

On their behalf John Jeynes said: “We are delighted to be back again delivering this much-loved family friendly charity event after Covid-19 broke a straight run of over 60 years in 2020.

"Queues formed ahead of the gates opening but what a delightful and happy crowd they were.

"John Coneley’s Fun Fair as ever was a big hit and younger ones were entertained by the renowned Southwest Punch and Judy man John Harvey.

"Meanwhile the caterers on site were kept very, very busy serving a variety of food and drinks.

"On behalf of the three clubs I thank all the local businesses who sponsor the event without whose support the event would not be possible. To our faithful crowd, we hope to see you all again next year.”
