A MAN sustained serious injuries after a crash involving a bicycle and a lorry.

Officers are appealing for witnesses after a man sustained serious injuries.

Police were called to the A38 Quedgeley bypass shortly before 9pm last night with a report of a collision which involved a lorry and cyclist.

The incident took place on the southbound section of the dual carriageway between the Cole Avenue traffic lights and junction for Asda.

The rider of the bicycle, a 46-year-old man from Gloucester, sustained serious injuries and remains in Southmead Hospital in Bristol.

The driver of the lorry was uninjured.

No other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the collision.

Investigating officers would like to speak to anyone who was driving on the stretch of road between 8.45pm and 9pm and may have seen what happened or who has dashcam footage.

They are also keen to hear from anyone who saw a cyclist riding a black bicycle or the lorry prior to the collision.
