A MAN in a balaclava has tried to steal a dog in the woods in Stonehouse.
The incident happened at 11am this morning whilst a 16 year old boy was walking his almost two year old whippet cross called Mini in Doverow Wood.
The man who tried to steal the dog was said to be dressed in black and wearing a balaclava.
He is also described as being a white male, having brown eyes and being around six feet tall.
The 16 year old managed to fight the assailant off his brother told the SNJ.
The teenager is well in himself but the dog is still very shaken.
