AN Eastington chef has created a special Stroud inspired pie ahead of British Pie Week.

Ethan Rodgers is launching the Five Valleys pie as a tribute to local food producers.

Mr Rogers recently took over the King's Head House Hotel in Eastington, where the new dish will be on the menu during pie week, March 7 to 13.

The event is an annual celebration of the tasty treat which has been served since around 2000 BC and loved by Brits since the 12th Century.

The team at the Kings Head House Hotel have come up with a vegetarian recipe using Eastington Farm Shop Milk, Morfona seed potatoes, leeks, smoked garlic and apples, also from the farm shop.

It also incorporates Jonathan Crump’s award winning Standish cheese, from Standish Farm, Stonehouse and Just Pressed, a cider from nearby, and a pastry case made from Shipton Mill and Netherend Butter.

Mr Rodgers, who took over the King's Head hotel and restaurant in late 2021 said: “When I arrived here, I had no idea how many great producers and suppliers there were.

“I believe British Pie Week should be a celebration of all things local.

"It is a great opportunity to showcase the great farmers and producers we have around here and combine all the flavours to create something special.

"I am serving the pie with a wild garlic sauce; this is an ingredient I have picked myself whilst out walking in the area.”

The pie will be on the King's Head menu for British Pie Week.
