POLICE were called after an assault reportedly took place outside a kebab shop in the Stroud town centre last week. 

This is in relation to an incident outside Stroud Kebab World in King Street at around 10.40pm on Thursday (14 April).

It was reported that a man had got into a verbal confrontation with a group of around six men before one of them squared up to the victim and pushed him, causing him to stumble backwards.

The group moved away from the victim and the altercation continued before one of the men walked back to the victim and punched him in the head.

The victim fell to the ground and was left unconscious - he sustained serious head injuries and waas taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital for treatment.

He has since been discharged.

The offender who pushed the victim was described as being black or mixed race, around 6ft 3ins tall, of a thickset build, had a beard and what looked like dreadlocks underneath his hood.

He was wearing a grey hooded top with red text on the chest, grey jogging bottoms, red and white Jordan trainers and a black coat.

The offender who then punched the victim was described as being white, of a slim build and was wearing black and white trainers, black trousers and a black or navy and grey hooded top with black t-shirt underneath which had an image or logo on the front.

Investigating officers are currently reviewing CCTV footage but would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident taking place.
