One of Gloucestershire's oldest traditions returned at the weekend after two years away.

Cheese rolling took place at Cooper's Hill near Brockworth for the first time since 2019.

Pandemic restrictions meant only a symbolic solo cheese roll occurred in 2020 and 2021.

Cheese rolling has taken place at least as far back as 1826 and the chaotic event returned in earnest on Sunday, with dozens of hardy soles tumbling down the steep hill in pursuit of glory and a 7lb round of Double Gloucester.

Champion chaser Chris Anderson won a race for the 23rd time but has since vowed to quit the extreme sport.
