A COUPLE are to take part in a special fundraiser as part of their hen and stag do.

The pair - who are from Stonehouse - decided about six months ago that they wanted to do something a bit different as part of the pre-marriage celebrations.

Evie Grace Mccabe and her fiance will be taking part in a mud run for Cancer Research UK as part of their hen and stag do today, Saturday.

"My main inspiration was my late Grampy that many people in Stonehouse knew," said Evie.

"Unfortunately cancer is something he and many others have fallen victim to.

"My grandad had a lot to do with the football scene in Stonehouse.

"When I worked as a carer a lot of people would tell me that they knew him.

"He was very happy to say hello to anybody and everybody.

"I know he would be proud if we even made the slightest difference due to this fundraiser.

"My other half's nan has cancer now too.

"It is something we really care about.

"We are doing this run today as part of our hen and stag, once we have finished running (or crawling) we will try and have some drinks and fun.

"We really appreciate all of the money raised so far, especially as a lot of people are struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.

"As most people are affected by cancer, we just feel that everyone can relate to this story in their own way."

The run will take place at Prestbury Park in Cheltenham on Saturday.
