Three things I've read recently have made a big impression on me.

The first was an abridged version of an article by Steven Frank, a holocaust survivor, who came here as a nine year old refugee.

He wrote that Britain gave him a home and was asking whether today's government would?

The second thing was an email from Global Justice Now which pointed out that a lot of people who are trying to come here as refugees are fleeing dreadful situations which we as a country have actually contributed towards, by contributing towards climate change, not compensating countries for this when we said we would, and by destabilizing areas and fuelling conflict.

Finally I read 'A Life on our Planet' by David Attenborough, it's a brilliant book, I would recommend it to everyone.

Towards the end of the book he writes about the need to reduce the population explosion. It was a real relief to see that he considers the best way of doing this is by redistributing wealth more equally and by empowering women.

Brilliant.
