A MEMORIAL plaque was unveiled to a much-loved swan who died recently.
Beatrix - who had spent the last 10 years in and around the canal in Stonehouse - was hit by a car at the site of the Ocean bridge near Stonehouse Court Hotel earlier this year.
A JustGiving appeal was set-up in March to create a memorial for the much-loved animal - over £300 was donated.
Beatrix and her partner Splendid along with their many generations of cygnets meant a great deal to many people in the community.
The Stonehouse part of the Stroudwater Canal was their territory during the last ten years where they became well-known and loved.
"People very kindly donated," said Nick Fawkes, who helped with the fundraiser.
"We have put up a plaque in her memory on the green belonging to Stonehouse Court Hotel next to the canal where Beatrix, Splendid and their many generations of cygnets would often sit."
