PUPILS at Archway School have collected their GCSE results today.

One student collecting their results was Luke Rodway who achieved two 7s, three 6s and three 5s as well as a distinction*. 

He said: “I’m just so thankful.

“It was hard to motivate myself to do work online and to learn to do anything.”

Luke will study football at Hartpury College in Gloucester in September. 

Another student Crow Harwood, 16, said she pulled through because of her amazing English teacher. 

“I passed both English and maths so I’m taking that. 

“I’ve been struggling with my mental health through Covid and I was already struggling before. 

“The school has been really good and I’ve only pulled through because of my English teacher. 

“I’m just so proud of myself really.”

Crow achieved one 8, one 7, two 6s, four 5s, one 4 and one 2 will study at Berkeley Green University Technical College in September.

Her friend Ethan Chandler, 16, achieved two 9s, two 8s, one 7 and four 6s and said the results have been a long time coming. 

“I’m just so glad that it’s over, I’ve been working so hard,” he said. 

“The school got us through Covid and so it’s been a long time coming.

“I’m excited to get started and study at Berkeley in September.” 

Headteacher Kieron Smith said he was ‘pleased’ with his students. 

He said: “Today is about celebrating these individual successes and I am so pleased that their hard work has been rewarded.  

“Our GCSE cohort had a great deal of Covid-19 disruption as they entered the initial weeks of their courses, but we are really pleased with how they have pulled it all together and achieved a great set of results.  

“The teachers ran many additional revision lessons and it has paid off.
