STROUD MP Siobhan Baillie has told Animal Rebellion protesters to 'grow up' and to stop playing games with people’s livelihoods.
Ms Baillie praised the police and Muller for dealing with the activists and keeping production running following a protest at the site in Oldends Lane, Stonehouse.
She said that during a cost-of-living crisis the activists’ directive that people should use expensive almond milk instead of cows’ milk was “as ridiculous as it is dictatorial”.
“It was clear from my discussions over the weekend that Muller and the police were able to deal with these protesters effectively,” said Siobhan.
“The police worked hard to think ahead and disrupt the disrupters once it became known that these extremists were targeting dairy factories.
“It is difficult to know what planet these people are living on when they target dairy producers and companies who are already under pressure during such challenging economic times.
"It is also unforgivable to try to intimidate hard working staff.
“The public is fed up with protesters disrupting everyday life to get publicity and force their opinions on others.
"Their behaviour costs the taxpayer millions and wastes precious police time too so it’s no way to win an argument.
"They should just grow up and stop playing games with people’s lives and livelihoods.”
