TRIBUTES have been paid to a much-loved and kind-hearted father who has died after being given just weeks to live.
Ryan Morrison, 34, from Stonehouse, died on Sunday, August 14 - just under a month after medics spotted signs of advanced cancer.
Last month, the SNJ reported how friends launched an urgent appeal to support his eight-year-old son in later life.
Ryan's partner Emma Wilcock paid a moving tribute.
“I don’t think Ryan realised how loved he was,” she said.
“We met at our best friends anniversary party and he instantly became a huge part of my life.
“I want everyone to know how kind-hearted he was.
“He doted on his son he was his world and his everything.
“Ryan was always smiling.
“Even though he was in so much pain, during the last few weeks he was amazing."
A week before he died, a country fair with live music, food and drink was organised in Arlingham.
Despite his frail health, Ryan was able to attend and got to see dozens of family members and friends.
“It was fantastic," said Emma.
“All his family turned up – he hadn’t seen some of them for over 10 years but he managed to get back in touch with them at the end.
“Life will never be the same without Ryan, I will miss him so much.”
His friends have also been paying tribute.
"Ryan was a special lad, he always picked up on anyone's mood," said pal Aaron Robins.
"There could never be another Ryan.
"He will be forever in my thoughts."
Doctors at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital discovered the tumour during a procedure to investigate stomach ulcers in July.
Ryan was told the disease had spread throughout his entire body and was given around a month to live.
Nearly £6,500 has been raised so far.
The GoFundMe appeal was set-up by friend and work colleague Matthew Smith with money going into a trust fund.
Ryan wanted his son to use the money for something worthwhile such as a deposit on a house.
A labourer, Ryan worked at DPT barn conversions in Arlingham for 11 years.
His funeral is at 2pm on Friday, September 16 at Gloucester crematorium.
