Peter Dowd MP was right to call for a 4 Day Working Week in Parliament this last week.
I personally work for an organisation, City to Sea, which adopted it as a policy over a year ago now when all our staff were asked to work 20% fewer hours for no reduction in pay.
I’ve seen first-hand the positive impact it has had on my physical and mental health as well as increasing productivity and nurturing a sense of work/life balance.
Currently, more than 70 companies and 3,300 workers are currently taking part in the world's biggest four-day week pilot.
At the halfway point, 86% of the companies taking part said they were likely to consider retaining the policy after the trial exactly because they’ve seen the productivity go up, staff retention increase and because staff are reporting being happier.
it’s time for some of Stroud’s biggest employers to consider adopting a trial.
Green Party Cllr for The Stanleys, Steve Hynd.
