THE Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has released a statement following the nursing strike which starts next week.

The wave of industrial action across the country is set to escalate in the coming weeks as more workers walk out in disputes over pay, jobs and conditions.

Members of the Royal College of Nursing will strike on Thursday, December 15, the first national stoppage in the union’s 106 year history, while action will also be held by several other groups of workers.

THE Trust has released the following statement:

“In response to the planned industrial action announced by the Royal College of Nursing (RCN), we are making plans to minimise disruption as much as possible and to preserve patient care.

“Patients who have a planned operation, outpatient clinic or procedure on either Thursday 15 or Tuesday 20 December 2022 should attend as usual unless they hear from us directly to advise otherwise.

“Patients with life-threatening or serious conditions will continue to be seen at our Emergency Departments.

Patients with minor injuries or less serious conditions should access alternative health services where they will often receive care in a more effective and timely manner. Visit or download the ASAP app for more information.

“There will be no disruption to patient visiting arrangements on either of these days.”
