Miraculous escape as car left hanging perilously off Frocester Hill

The most recent incident occurred last night Thursday, (December 22) at around 7.40pm that resulted in a car leaving the road and hanging 100 feet over Frocester Hill.

Firefighters from Stroud as well as Lydney and Coleford helped rescue the car using ropes. 

The driver and passenger went to hospital with minor injuries.

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were called at 7.54pm to reports of a vehicle having left the road and being 100 feet over the edge of the hill.

“Two fire engines from Stroud and two rope rescue teams, from Lydney and Coleford, attended the scene. 

“Two males had already got out of the vehicle when crews arrived. 

“The car was helped back to the road by rope rescue teams.

“The stop message was received at 10.12pm.”

Two more incidents reported

Meanwhile, there have also been two other collisions on the same stretch of road with minor injuries reported. 

On Wednesday (December 21), at around 5.30pm, there was a minor injury collision involving two cars. Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service was called but wasn't ‘needed’. 

There was another collision on Monday (December 19) at around 7.50pm. 

The car's occupants are thought to have sustained minor injuries.
