St Joseph's Catholic Primary School in Sunday Times Parent Power

St Joseph's Catholic Primary School in Nymspfield was ranked in seventh place for the region in the primary schools list produced by the Sunday Times. 

It is the only school in Gloucestershire to feature in the top 10 for the South West region. 

The school has also been recognised as the 138th best nationally. 

Acting headteacher of the school Clare Howells said that they were all 'incredibly proud' of this 'amazing achievement.'

“We are absolutely delighted to be recognised in this way," said Ms Howells. 

“It’s amazing.

“We are incredibly proud of our pupils.

“The teachers are amazing, all incredibly skilled and passionate.

“We are a school family, working together to be the best we can be.

“As well as academic achievements, we focus on the social, emotional and spiritual side of life. 

“We want children to be happy children.

“If they can get it right here, they can be successful in their future lives.

“The school is also blessed with very supportive parents.

“When visitors come to the school they always go away saying how well-behaved the children are, how much pride the pupils have in their work and how calm and peaceful they are. “

Helen Davies, editor of The Sunday Times Parent Power guide, says: “These have been a challenging few years for teachers, pupils and their parents, and the success of many in our league table is testament to the stamina and support shown by all concerned. 

"It is also clear that more attention is being placed on wellbeing and mental health – from meditation rooms to counselling support, even therapy dogs – and schools are being proactive to bring about positive changes.

“League tables are not the only criteria a parent can use when choosing a school, but they are a good starting point.
