AN INDIAN restaurant in the High Street has received a zero hygiene grade.

Zaika, at 8 High Street, Stonehouse, was handed a zero-out-of-five rating after assessment on December 7.

Stroud News and Journal:

Food hygiene ratings reflect the hygiene standards which are found on the day of inspection by the local authority - they are not a guide to food quality.

Zaika have since sent the SNJ a lengthy statement about this.

The three areas which are inspected by a food safety officer are the food handling, the conditions of the facilities and the management of food safety.

In all three areas, 'major improvement necessary' was scored.

Ratings are given on a score from 0-5, with five being the highest.

The SNJ has approached Zaika for a comment.
