A MAJOR road near Stroud is closed after a road traffic collision. 

The B4066 in Nympsfield near Bristol and Gloucestershire Gliding Club has been shut since around 7am. 

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Highways said in a tweet this morning: "Good morning Gloucestershire, the B4066 in Nympsfield near the gliding club is currently closed due to an RTC."

It comes the same week that the SNJ reported about campaigners asking for more action on the B4066 and Frocester Hill junction.

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire police said: "It was single vehicle collision where the vehicle hit a tree.

"There was a lot of debris from the tree in the road that needed clearing along with the car hence the road closure.

"No one was injured."
