Deaths

CAPENER Christopher

Died peacefully at home on 22nd February at the age of 74.

Having lived an exhuberant and active life, he was sadly rendered largely immobile by a stroke at the age of 66.

He bore this with impressive patience and deeply appreciated the care he received but welcomed the end when it came. Chris’s wish was for a quiet private burial, near his much-loved mother Phylis, in Stonehouse where he grew up.

FLEMING Vera Alice

Aged 101 Peacefully passed away at the family home in Sheepscombe.

Much loved Mother to Juliette and Grandmother to William, Daisy and Ben. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Funeral Service takes place at St. Mary’s Church, Painswick on Wednesday 12th April at 11.00am Family flowers only.

McCULLOUGH Rita

A long-time resident of Brownshill, passed away at Resthaven Care Home on 16th March, aged 94.

Wife of the late Ian McCullough, mother to Sally, Fiona and Philippa, grandmother to Mark and Emma and greatgrandmother to Theo, Sofia, Luca, Seb and Jack.

She will be dearly missed by family and friends. Rita had a long and very active life which will be celebrated at the Church of St Michael and All Angels, Bussage on Tuesday 18th April at 12:30pm. All who remember her are welcome to attend.

PAINE Nigel James

Of Theescombe Lane, Amberley Suddenly on 15th March, aged 74 years. Beloved Husband of Denise, adored Dad of Damian and Jody, brilliant Grandad of Tilly and Will and Brother of Roger.

ROCHESTER Joyce Eileen (Joy)

Passed peacefully away Friday 17th March 2023, aged 85 years. Beloved Wife of the late Graham. Wonderful Mum to Kevin and Angela.

Nanna to James, the late Vicky, Kara, Kieron, Liam and Josie. Great-Nanna to Daniel, Spencer, Thomas, Mima, Rupert and Hetty. Joy was much loved by all her family and friends and will be cherished and deeply missed always.

A celebration of her life will take place at St. Cyr’s Church, Stonehouse on Wednesday 19th April 2023 at 11am, followed by committal at Gloucester Cremation at 2:30pm. Family flowers only please. SHEPHERD Margaret Mary (Rita)

Of Maple Tree Court, Nailsworth, and Amberley. Widow of Peter, and deeply missed mother of Sarah and Stephen.

Founder of the ‘Solo’ group within the Stroud U3A. Rita’s funeral service will be held at Parish Church of the Holy Trinity, Amberley, on Tuesday April 11th at 2pm.

TARN Vivienne Patricia

Sadly passed away 20th March, aged 81 years.

Beloved sister of Gillian and Nicky. aunt to Jeremy, Lisa, Bryan, Sam and Jamie.

TURK Barbara Joan (nee Shipway)

Sadly passed away at Gloucester Hospital on Wednesday 15th March, aged 89 years. Much loved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother.

WARREN Rosemary (Of Whiteshill) Passed away peacefully at Gloucester Royal Hospital on 23rd March 2023 aged 89 years.
