AMBERLEY fete raised around £4,000 to help pay for the village school's new roof.
The event, held in the village green on Saturday, coincided with the launch of the roof appeal.
There were dozens of activities to keep crowds entertained throughout the day, including country dancing, tug of war, a coconut shy, tombola, stocks and face painting.
Organiser Claire Jones, chairman of Amberley Primary School's PTA, said there was a wonderful atmosphere.
"We had beautiful weather," she said.
"There were about 50 stalls - we had a Pimms stall and a homemade deli stall which sold lovely quiches, sausage rolls and pasties.
"We also had a beer tent for the first time which proved very popular."
All the children dressed up in period style clothing from the Victorian Age right through to the 90s.
Some also dressed as roofs to gain support for the appeal to raise £15,000.
"We desperately need a new roof," said Claire.
"Our one is getting so old and soon it will be unsafe."
