POLDARK heart-throb Aidan Turner has been spotted filming a raunchy classic in Tetbury.

Tetbury has been transported back in time to the 1980s as our beautiful timeless town provided the perfect backdrop for new Disney+ drama Rivals.

The new eight-part series on Disney+ is based on provocative novel Rivals which was written by Jilly Cooper, who lives in Bisley.

The series follows the thrilling story of Rupert Campbell-Black and Tony Baddingham's longstanding rivalry which comes to a head.

The star-studded cast includes the likes of former Dr Who David Tennant, Poldark's Aidan Turner and EastEnders' Danny Dyer.

Rivals dives headfirst into the cutthroat world of independent television in 1986, where the shoulder pads are big and ambitions even bigger.

In the fictional upper-class county of Rutshire, a long-standing rivalry between two powerful men is about to boil over.

Ex-Olympian, MP, and notorious womaniser Rupert Campbell-Black (Alex Hassell) and his Rutshire neighbour Tony Baddingham (David Tennant) controller of the independent TV franchise Corinium Television go head-to-head.

As tensions rise and rivalries deepen, secrets are spilled, alliances are forged and snatched liaisons draw wives, lovers, colleagues, friends and families into their battle.

Caught in the crossfire is TV presenter Declan O’Hara, played by Aidan Turner who is no stranger to Tetbury as he previously starred in Poldark.

Rivals is a joyously mischievous rollercoaster ride, steamy in its love stories and packed with larger-than-life characters.

Yet beneath the spectacle and fun, the series brings a 2020s lens to the 1980s, offering a raw exploration of a complicated moment in British history when class, race, sex, wealth and sexual liberation meant that, for the very privileged few, there were no limits to what they could achieve.

The drama is being produced by Happy Prince, which is part of ITV Studios, for Disney+ and includes a stellar cast including David Tennant, Alex Hassell, Aidan Turner, Nafessa Williams, Bella Maclean, Katherine Parkinson, Danny Dyer, Victoria Smurfit, Claire Rushbrook, Oliver Chris,  Lisa McGrillis, Emily Atack, Rufus Jones, Luke Pasqualino and Catriona Chandler star in the ensemble cast.

The UK original series will premiere on Disney+ in EMEA and Asia Pacific and Star+ in Latin America.
