PLANS have been submitted for a doughnut business to move into the town centre.

The plans for Glazed Bakehouse to move into a unit in Bedford Street next to Simpsons fish and chips store were submitted to Stroud District Council on Tuesday, May 16.

As 13a Bedford Street was the home of an arcade, an change of use application to a bakery/takeaway has been made.

In the application it says: "Glazed currently provides plant-based doughnuts and baked goods to local businesses in the area, as well as in Cirencester and Swindon.

Stroud News and Journal:

"As part of the move, on a Saturday we would be open for customers to directly purchase from us, partnering with Rough Hands coffee who will supply us with hot and cold drinks.

"Simpsons fish and chips and Coco Caravan located in Bedford Street have both given their support to the opening of a shop front in the location.

"We believe that this would be a valuable addition to the neighbourhood, creating an exciting food hub and sense of community.

"With the move to 13a Bedford Street, there will be many benefits, we will be able to support local business Rough Hands as well as create more job opportunities for local people.

"As the business grows, we also hope to be able to provide more employment opportunities."

No onsite parking is being proposed.

No decision has been made regarding the application.
