OUR nostalgia pictures this week take a look at the beautiful village of Bisley and Tom Long's Post on Minchinhampton Common.

These photographs are all taken from the Stroud Area Photographs and Cotswolds Picture Postcards Facebook group and reproduced here with their kind permission.

The exact origin of Tom Long's Post is uncertain, however, it is speculated by the Minchinhampton Local History Society that the name could be a point where Tom Long was buried, or a favoured spot for a highwayman, or a reference to a carrier from the 16th-19th century.

It is probable that the origin will remain lost in history.
