BOAT trips across the canal in Stroud have returned for the summer. 

Organised by Cotswold Canals Trust (CCT), and taking place every Wednesday, these trips, which start at Saul Junction, will be two hours long. 

There will be morning slots heading south and afternoon slots heading north.

The morning cruise departs at 10.30am from outside the CCT visitor centre at Saul Junction.

It will travel southbound past Sandfield Stables, Sandfield Wharf and the old Cadbury’s Factory before turning just past Splatt Bridge and returning to Saul Junction.

The afternoon northbound trip departs at 1.30pm travelling toward Gloucester Docks.

"Our friendly and knowledgeable crew of volunteers are happy to answer questions and share information of the history and wildlife along the canal," said a CCT spokesperson.   

"They may even make you a cuppa if you are lucky.

"Travelling along the canal by boat is a unique and relaxing way to view and learn about the restoration work that has been achieved by volunteers. 

"In addition to the 2-hour public trips from Saul, we run weekly trips public every Saturday alternating between Ebley and Stroud running every half an hour between 11am and 4.30pm.

"Private charters can also be booked aboard any of the four trips boats moored at Wallbridge, Ebley, Saul and Lechlade."

Adventure is the newest boat in the Cotswold Canal Trust’s fleet and is both fully accessible and electric powered.

Fitted with a hydraulic lift and accessible toilet she can accommodate wheelchair users and pushchairs for families with young children.
