STROUD'S motorists will have eight road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

But drivers will be able to take some solace in the fact that all of them are only expected to cause slight delays, of under 10 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• M5, from 10pm September 21 to 6am September 26, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 12 carriageway closure between exit and entry slip roads for resurfacing, diversion via exit and entry slip roads.

• M5, from 8pm September 18 to 6am September 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 13 to 11A lane closures for resurfacing.

And a further six closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• M5, from 8pm September 26 to 6am October 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 11A to 12 lane closures for resurfacing.

• M5, from 9pm September 26 to 6am September 28, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 12 entry slip road closure for resurfacing, diversion via M5 southbound to junction 13.

• M5, from 10pm September 28 to 6am September 30, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 12 carriageway closure between exit and entry slip roads for resurfacing, diversion via exit and entry slip roads.

• M5, from 9pm October 2 to 5am October 3, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 12 to junction 13 lane closure for electrical works.

• M5, from 10pm October 4 to 6am October 5, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 southbound, junction 12 entry slip road closure for drainage, diversion B4008 to A38, South to M5, junction 13.

• M5, from 10pm October 5 to 6am October 6, slight delays (under 10 minutes): M5 northbound, junction 12 entry slip road closure for drainage, diversion South to M5, junction 13 and return.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
