Mark Epton draws attention to the similarity between the looming climate crisis and the lead up to WWII (letters, 27 Sept)
The analogy could be extended, in that the process of appeasement, in which Hitler was allowed to expand German territory in the hope of avoiding a war, could be said to be similar to Sunac's retraction of our already rather feeble measures to keep fossil fuel in the ground.
Since Mark wrote that letter, the Government has given permission for the Rosebank oilfield to go ahead.
And, as we all know, demonstration of any support about the climate crisis is being suppressed.
Meanwhile Siobhan Ballie assures us that the PM is just being pragmatic.
Pragmatic? Suicidal is the more appropriate word, in my view
