A POPULAR Stroud venue has applied for an alcohol licence.

Sound Records, based in George Street, Stroud, has applied for an alcohol licence.

The record shop, which also sells coffee, moved from its previous location in the High Street to George Street last year.

An alcohol licence application, which can be seen here, has now been made.

In it, the owner wrote: "The premises is a shop with storeroom at the back.

"We will host musical acts at the end of the room furthest from the door and our proposal is that alcohol will be served from this area.

"We will generally accommodate 20-40 people for our live music events.

"We may, on occasion host other small events including album playbacks.

"Music will be amplified but kept to a reasonable level.

"Performances tend to last for 45 minutes and the accommodation above the premises is owned and inhabited by the landlord of the shop."

The alcohol licence covers Thursdays between 7pm and 10pm, Fridays between 5pm and 8pm and Saturdays between 2pm and 8pm.
