HEAVY rain in the area has caused the canal to overflow.

Water has spilled onto the towpath in two different locations -  behind Homebase and further down the canal close to Lidl in Dudbridge.

The Cotswold Canals Trust which maintains the canal has been approached for comment.

The Canal and River Trust has issued flood safety advice, advising walkers and cyclists to be careful when passing through flooded towpaths.

They advise not to walk, run or cycle on a surface you can't see.
