POLICE have issued an urgent warning to drivers after a leaking fuel tanker continues to cause havoc across the area this morning.

It is believed that large amounts of diesel have leaked from a fuel tanker spanning miles across the Stroud area from M5 junction 13 all the way to Tetbury.

A search is still currently underway to try and locate the transporter and inform the driver.

Gloucestershire Police are urging people to ring 999 if they are driving behind or can see the tanker at the time.

Areas that have particularly been affected by spills include the A46 Bath Road in Nailsworth, outside Renishaw on Latimer Road in Stonehouse and Old Bristol Road in Nailsworth.

A police spokesperson said: “Anyone who has travelled through the area and seen the tanker or has dashcam footage of it is asked to call 101 quoting incident 106 of October 31.

“Please dial 999 if you are driving behind or can see the tanker at the time.

“Officers are liaising with colleagues from National Highways and a number of road closures are being put into place so that the fuel can be cleared."
