A FUNDRAISING appeal has been launched by a charity near Dursley to help a young French bulldog and give him a second chance in life.
Crumpet, aged two, who recently came into the care of Cotswolds Dogs & Cats Home, is currently suffering from a major skin infection.
According to the charity, Crumpet's previous owner could not afford his extensive veterinary treatment and had to make the difficult decision to give him away.
Staff say his infection has resulted in widespread alopecia, erythema, and small pustules all over his body causing irritated and inflamed sore skin.
Alongside this, he also has facial fold dermatitis, leaving him very uncomfortable and affecting his quality of life.
Expensive treatment will include medicated baths, a course of medication including steroids, a special diet, and regular veterinary visits
The charity is now appealing to members of the public to donate towards Crumpet’s vet bills which is hoped will help him recover and feel more comfortable.
So far, the French bulldog who has been described as a ‘sweet boy’ is working closely with animal care assistant Beth Barker.
It is hoped once Crumpet is healthy enough, the charity will be able to find him a forever home.
Beth from CDCH said: “When Crumpet first arrived into our care, he was in such a terrible condition, he was very sad and timid.
“After gaining some of our trust he is already showing improvements and a glimpse of his personality is beginning to shine through.”
