A MAN has been sentenced after stealing hundreds of pounds worth of alcohol from Sainsbury’s in Stroud.
James Williams, aged 40, admitted stealing £800 worth on June 27 and stealing £361 worth on July 15 from the supermarket.
He was ordered to pay £1,161 in compensation plus £85 in costs - a total of £1,246.
He was jailed for four weeks after a hearing at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on November 1.
According to the court register, Williams, of no fixed address in Churchdown, Gloucester, was jailed due to his history of offending and due to the high cost of the items taken.
