FOUR POLICE vehicles were called to Stroud town centre this morning.
Over half a dozen officers could be seen at the entrance of the Five Valleys Shopping Centre, in King Street, where they appeared to be dealing with a man who could be heard shouting loudly.
A police spokesperson said: "At around 8.45am today (Tuesday) police were alerted to a man in King Street, Stroud who was reported as being aggressive and shouting in the street, which caused distress to a member of the public.
"Officers attended and he then became abusive and aggressive towards them.
"A 34-year-old man of no fixed address was subsequently arrested on suspicion of a public order offence, namely using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour.
"He remains in custody."
