A STROUD police inspector was invited to a Downing Street reception this week by MP Siobhan Baillie for the Local Community Safety Champions’ Reception.

Paul Cruise and Ms Baillie went through the famous black door on Tuesday for the event hosted by security minister Tom Tugendhat on behalf of the Prime minister.

The MP nominated Paul for his tireless work as Stroud and Dursley’s Neighbourhood Policing Inspector keeping the local area and residents safe.

Ms Baillie said: “Nothing is ever too much of an ask for Paul and not only does he do a huge amount of work within the community, he has also supported my constituency team a lot throughout the years.

“It was a pleasure to nominate him to come to the reception to be acknowledged for the work he does, to meet the minister and other champions from around the country.

"He is a credit to Gloucestershire Constabulary and to our town.”

Paul said: “I was truly honoured and humbled to be nominated to attend Downing Street as a Community Safety Champion.

“I’m so proud of the work carried out by the Stroud & Dursley Neighbourhood Team to make our communities safer, and we will continue to dedicate our efforts to improving the safety of all those who live, work and visit our wonderful area.”
