AN APPLICATION has been made for a new alcohol licence at the Old Fleece Inn, Woodchester.

The pub has sent an application to Stroud District Council as part of new plans at the establishment.

The application is for the pub to extend the licensed area to include a beer garden, extended lounge and dining area.

An application document reads: "We intend to fabricate a new extension to the south of the property on a former patio area next to the neighbouring Coach House.

"This will house a state-of-the-art subterranean beer cellar, replacing the existing ground level one.

"The existing beer cellar will be converted into a lounge and with the removal of the southern wall, access will be made to the extension above the new cellar area.

"This will complete the investment in the Old Fleece providing new washroom facilities, new kitchens, beer cellar and extension for a café and dining for clients.

"The new facilities will provide access for people of restricted ability.

"We want to reinstate the beer garden - this area is already used by clients but having it covered by the license allows for waiter service of this area.

"We propose limiting the use of the garden to 10pm daily with 30 minutes drinking up time and therefore it will close to the public by 10.30pm."
