KATIE Hopkins has issued a statement after her event at a Stroud pub on Thursday.
Her comedy show, which was according to her website a sell-out, took place between 8pm and 10pm at the pub.
A protest took place in the build-up to the performance - you can see pictures of the protest here.
In a statement to the SNJ, the former Apprentice contestant issued a message of thanks to those who attended the event.
She said: "We live in an age of prohibition, except this time it’s speech that’s banned.
"So what better place to celebrate freedom, than at Ken’s pub in Stroud.
"How wonderful it is to be in a room full of people who simply want everyone to be as free and as happy as they can be, and to be afforded the same courtesy in return.
"We all need a good laugh right about now - and whether you are laughing with me or at me, at least we are feeling better together.
"I want to thank everybody who came along, those on the wait list who we weren’t able to fit in, other locals supporting people's freedom to choose who they listen to, and the Stroud police for their support.
"May I also take a moment to encourage everyone to support their local pubs.
"Life is lonely for many.
"Ken is a lovely landlord who brings a lot of warmth and joy into the community.
"Thank you Stroud."
The show was part of Katie Hopkins' Silly Cow Tour taking place throughout 2024.
